Bokashi Supplemental Fermenter
An extra fermentation bucket – 5 gal. Blue, White, Gray, or 3.5 gal. Green
Lots of food waste to process?
Add additional capacity to bokashi ferment food waste in 5 gallon/18.9 liter increments (Blue, Gray, or White) or 3.5 gallon/13.3 liter increments (Green).
Each additional 5 gallon fermenter will increase food waste processing capacity by about 50 pounds. Each additional 3.5 gallon fermenter will increase food waste processing capacity by about 35 pounds.
Once the fermenter is filled completely you should allow a minimum of 7 days before placing the fermented product in the soil.
Always mix it well with soil and cover with about 6 to 8 inches of soil for the moist rapid and efficient conversion to enriched soil.
Use with bokashi culture mix as directed in the instructions for the food waste disposal system.
Anaerobic easy spin on and off seal
Fenestrated plate and baffles to sustain low oxygen environment
Spigot for liquid collections
High quality 90 mil HDPE UV resistant substrates
Bokashi System Drain Spigot
A replacement drain spigot for the 5 or 3 gallon fermentation buckets.
Injection molded Plastic Spigot
A plastic spigot is normally used in Bokashi System fermenters to remove tea that has collected in the lower chamber of the fermenter. A fenestrated (drain) plate allows fluid to accumulate in the bottom chamber.
Microbial enzymes lyse cells and metabolize nutrients in the waste material resulting in a steady stream of liquid being formed. The liquid is rich in nutrients and microbes and it is commonly called Bokashi Tea.
The plastic spigot is assembled and easily installed. The rubber washer and nut secure the spigot in place. The washer is normally placed within the lower chamber of the fermenter so that the nut compresses it against the wall of the fermenter making a complete and secure seal.
The spigot handle is normally in the "Off" position preventing drainage when rotated to the right and in the "On" position when rotated 180 degrees to the left. The drain diameter is approximately 3/8 inch.
Bokashi System Drain Plate
A replacement false bottom drain plate for the 5 or 3 gallon fermentation buckets.
Injection molded Fenestrated Plate
The photo image shows the top and bottom view for Bokashi System Drain plates.
Fenestrated plates are used to efficiently separate fermenting recyclable waste from the liquid formed in the degrading process. Microbial enzymes lyse cells and metabolize nutrients in the waste material resulting in a steady stream of liquid being formed. The liquid is rich in nutrients and microbes and it is commonly called Bokashi Tea.
The plate can bonded to the bottom of a 3 to 5 gallon fermenter with the supporting legs facing down. This creates a chamber where the tea is collected. Tea is normally removed with a spigot connected to the lower chamber.
The fenestrated drain plate is designed to accurately fit fermenters with sufficient space to adequately accomodate the spigot and fermenter wall. It is not necessary to bond it to the bottom of the fermenter and some people who build their own units prefer to remove the drain plate periodically for cleaning.
Shipment includes a single Drain Plate
Color: plate color may vary
Diameter of plate: 10 3/8 inches
Injection Molded Pressure Plate with Grip
A replacement injection molded Pressure Plate with Grip for the 5 or 3 gallon fermentation buckets.
Pressure plates are used in Bokashi fermenting systems to rapidly expel trapped oxygen. They are also useful in expelling bokashi tea from the fermented end product which can then be used as a nutrient and microbially rich supplement for house plants, lawns and gardens.
Ergonomically injected molded plate comfortably fits the hand with a concave contour that is useful in compressing and directing fermented contents to the bottom of the fermenter as material is processed. With oxygen exclusion, the fermenting process is rapid and efficient.

bokashi bulk waste fermenter - 55 gallon
Complete system with culture mix and concentrated accelerant to process approximately 550 gallons (~ 3 cubic yards) of hard packed yard waste.
The yard waste fermenting system is designed to rapidly break down grass clippings, weeds, and brush placed in the 55 gallon fermenter using a combination of the bokashi culture mix and an accelerant. Woody items and branches may be included but should be shredded before being added to the fermenter. Food scraps may be added and mixed in with the yard waste. No carbon rich material is needed to mix with ordinary grass clippings or yard waste for transformation to take place. Flies, vermin, and pests will not be attracted to the fermented product subsequently mixed with soil.
Successful conversion of waste to rich soil involves placing the waste material in the fermenter in layers. A cup of concentrated accelerant is diluted 3.5 fold with water and sprayed directly onto the waste. The culture mix is then dispensed broadly over the layer using the dispensing unit. Each layer is 2 – 4 inches thick. The anaerobic lid is locked in place with the band clamp to exclude oxygen and after 7 – 10 days the fermentation is complete. The fermented product is removed and mixed with ordinary soil and then covered with about 3 inches of soil. Soil microbes then in about 7 – 10 days convert waste into rich soil. If the fermented grass clippings and weeds are mixed in with a compost pile, it will also rapidly degrade and re-activate a dead compost heap. The yard waste fermenting system is made up of the following components.
55 Gallon Yard Waste Starter Kit:
1 – 55 gallon HDPE Fermenter
1 – Band clamp
1 - Lid with locking flange and seal to exclude oxygen when the fermenter is closed
1 – Filter cassette for fluid removal
1 – Safety pressure release valve – spigot
1 – Key for opening spigot safety pressure valve
1 – 25 pound bag of bokashi culture mix
1 – 1 gallon concentrate of accelerant for yard waste processing
1 – 1 liter spray bottle for priming yard waste before adding culture mix
1 – Instruction set for yard waste processing
